The pattern · inside-out
Rituals religion got backwards
Religion has a habit of taking something meant to happen inside you and turning it into a performance you do on the outside. A change of heart becomes a ceremony. Rest becomes a rule. Remembering becomes a ritual. Each entry below takes one apart — what it was, what people made it, and what Jesus actually meant.
- The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath Rest, not rules. The Sabbath was a gift of rest for the overworked — never a mandatory day of worship.
- Baptising them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost Baptism isn't a dip in water — it's an immersion that changes you from the inside out.
- Communion; This cup is the new testament in my blood, which shall for you be shed It was a request, not a ritual. Remember me — no wine, wafer, or performance required.
- Clean the inside of the cup first What's inside drives what's outside. Start there.
- The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector Stop performing.
- Prayer To pray means to talk to Jesus.
- Repent To repent means to change your mind — completely, and in a way that changes your direction.
- Fasting Fast from your ego, not your food. Religion turned an inner humbling into an outer performance — Jesus never asked you to give anything up.
- Tithing Give from your heart, not your wallet. God's tithe was food for the landless and the poor — it was never a tenth owed to an institution.
